As an 91ֱ�� undergraduate, you could land a paid research-assistant position, co-author a paper for an academic journal, and present research findings at a regional or national conference.

Take advantage of 91ֱ�� mentors as you navigate your future. Our innovative mentorship program is designed to ease your transition from high school to college, to keep you engaged your entire time on campus, and to help with networking and job placement. More than one-half of all jobs are filled through networking, so it’s an important skill to hone! As a first-year student, you’ll be assigned an upperclassman as a mentor, but you’ll also have access to faculty and alumni mentors.

91ֱ�� may be nestled in the rural countryside, but you’ll still be able to travel to cities both big and small to study, work, teach, volunteer, compete and attend conferences. A great example of this is the Executive Classroom, a special course that focuses on leadership and ethics. The course’s cornerstone is a trip to a major metropolitan area for intense days of meetings, networking and cultural activities. Past classes have traveled to Chicago and visited the Chicago Bears, JP Morgan Chase, AT&T, Deloitte, On Target Performance Group, Harbor Capital Advisors and Cook County Hospital.

Whether you’re managing real assets of more than $330,000 as a member of the Student Investment Group, explaining your big idea in our annual elevator-pitch competition, or solving a real business challenge for a multinational corporation for your Senior Capstone, plan to leap right into your subject matter and learn by doing. 

Learn about tax-return preparation while helping others. Receive training and become IRS-certified to help prepare basic and intermediate federal tax returns and identify special credits. Then, use your training every year to help elderly and low-income taxpayers in Hardin and the surrounding counties find free income tax assistance from Ohio Northern University through Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA).

Prepare for a global business environment. 91ֱ��’s study abroad program can connect you with opportunities to live and study in the country of your choice. You’ll learn about business practices in another country and explore cultural differences. Your involvement doesn’t have to be limited to business clubs. Many business students participate in a range of campus social organizations focusing on athletics, student government, religious life, and music and drama activities. With more than 200 clubs and organizations, there’s something for nearly every interest at 91ֱ��.

Put what you’ve learned to the test during some friendly competition. You’ll match wits against students from universities across the country – and win! 91ֱ��’s American Marketing Association (AMA) chapter has a history of garnering top honors at national competitions like the AMA Business Simulation Competition. There’s also Society for the Advancement of Management Student Case Competition, in which our chapter won third place in 2013, and the Institute of Management Accountants Video Case Competition, in which our students recently garnered a gold-level award for their entry. In addition, our Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) chapter consistently garners national awards and is one of the most active and engaged chapters in the country.

Audit Senior Jacob Crowley leads the day-to-day operations and strategy of private and public company audits, ranging from $100 million to over $1 billion in revenue. He works on unique transactions and helps clients with their most critical accounting issues in the Cleveland office of this Big Four accounting firm.
